Molly Malone's Bar

Named after the legendary Molly Malone herself, this bar is has seen it all. From politicians to business people, locals to travellers, the Irish and those who want to be Irish for a day, Molly Malone's Bar has welcomed them all with a few drinks and legendary craic.

As well as the thousands of people that have leant against Molly Malone's Bar and shared a story or two through the years, perhaps the bar’s most famous visitors dropped by on September 14, 1989.

On the eve of the Australian leg of their Rattle and Hum Tour, Irish superstars U2 held their only media conference on stage at Molly Malone Bar at The Mercantile. This picture remains on the wall when the world’s biggest ever rock band chose Molly Malone's Bar to have a beer and a chat, adding to the authenticity of The Mercantile as the home of Irish culture in Australia.

The Office

Existing in the space formerly used as a Shell Shop before it was incorporated into the lease of The Mercantile, the lower ground bar is known as The Office. Aptly named given the bar’s history as a place of business, the name of the bar also gives you the option to legitimately tell their other half ‘I’m still at the office!’
